Reasons for change

Reasons for change of Red List category

In addition to the species' current category, the Red List includes their category in the previous assessment and the reason for the possible change of category. If the species’ category has changed in relation to the previous evaluation, the reason for the change has been recorded. The key factor in recording the reasons is to differentiate genuine changes in the species’ situation from ones in which the species has been transferred to a different category due to new information, incorrect data or other reasons. It is possible to draw conclusions on the situation and development of an individual species, organism group, the entire florae and faunae, or habitats only through category changes that are deemed to be genuine.

  2. Genuine (since first assessment)
