About

The assessment and classification of threatened species is a question of the likelihood of the species disappearing from a certain area in a certain time frame. This fifth assessment of threatened species in Finland has followed the classification and criteria of threatened species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the related application guidelines.

The regional threat assessment has been carried out on the basis of the above-mentioned national assessment, by specifying and applying it. Finland's forest vegetation zones and their 11 sub-areas have been used as the biogeographical division of the evaluation.

On these pages you can find information about the entries used on the Red List and this online service and the implementation of the evaluation in Finland. A separate section also contains more detailed information on the implementation and labelling of the regional evaluation.
